Default Garcia for a starting point

I found a Garcia bit with a medium port and a cricket with the Mona Lisa spoon.
I am wanting to put my mare straight up in the bridle when I have her going well in the hackamore, which she is well on her way. I have never used a spade, but I do understand the use of one. I can't wait to try it for the first time, but I know I must wait until she is ready.
What do folks think of this bit as a first time straight up bridle bit? Any thoughts?

The mona lisa mouth piece doesn't have a spoon. It is really a half-breed mouth piece with the cricket covered. When the cricket is covered it amplifies the sound of the cricket. I really like the mona lisa mouth, but it isn't a spade. I use a mona lisa often as an introductory bit, or for horses that I do not plan to put in a spade. The mona lisa can be a great bit for someone who is learning to handle the reins. Don't forget the two-rein stage, it is there for the transition and to get your horse ready for the bit.

Thank you for the thoughts. It re-inforces what my thoughts were. And you are right, it is not a spade - my mistake on that one. I am still learning all I can about the variety of bits (spade or not) before moving ahead with my mare. I will be learning the 2 rein stage on my own, but time is on my side.
Here is a picture of the Garcia bit.
